Stop the on-air fund drives at KBYU-FM. This week, KBYU is running yet another one.
Yet KBYU, owned and operated by Brigham Young University, refuses to disclose its financial statements. KBYU refuses to disclose how much it takes in from listeners, and the sources for its other income and revenue. KBYU refuses to say what it does with its donations and pledges, how it spends the public's money, and how much it uses to pay salaries of management and staff.
Management at KBYU consists of Marcus Smith, head of BYU Broadcasting, and Eric Glissmeyer, manager of KBYU's day-to-day operations. Neither Smith nor Glissmeyer show any signs of releasing KBYU's income and expenses to the public.
I argue, no more fund raising over public air waves for KBYU until and unless Smith and Glissmeyer come clean and release KBYU's financial statements.
