So management at KBYU-FM introduces a new program, The Score, on Saturday evenings at 6 PM, believing that classical listeners want to hear film music!
At the same time, Marcus Smith, general manager, and his assistant, Eric Glissmeyer, program selector, ignore calls for KBYU to broadcast one hour per week of contemporary music.
KBYU thus chooses film music over contemporary classical compositions. Any genre of serious music is to be respected and accepted including film compositions. But given that film scores are on the light side, I have a lingering perception that this decision shows anti-intellectualism thriving at KBYU's studios.
