Someone in management at KBYU-FM should tell the student announcers that it is sloppy and unacceptable to drop "t"s following "n"s as in twenty, ninety or Internet.
Over the last few days, I heard student Shaun O'Neill read a promo ad for Prosperity 20-20. It came out as "Prosperity twenny twenny."
Again today I heard veteran Mark Wait who should know better talk about 90% of something. Mark Wait dropped the "t" in 90 and so it came out as "niney."
This is sloppy and lazy language. It might be okay on some AM station or maybe even for sports announcers. But it surely not acceptable for announcers on an FM classical music station.
