I argue that it is inappropriate for a "public" radio station like KBYU-FM, to broadcast religious Christmas music for almost the whole month of December. All this week, KBYU is airing Christmas carols and hymns continuously throughout the day, every day through December 25th.
If KBYU-FM were a commercial station, let it do anything it wants. But KBYU advertises itself as "public," broadcasts several weekly programs from NPR and American Public Radio, and periodically asks listeners to send in donations and pledges. Sectarian Christmas hymns are simply not appropriate for such a station.
KBYU-FM is owned and operated by Brigham Young University. If KBYU insists on the morning-to-night format of Christmas hymns, then let it cease all use of public airwaves to generate monies and donations.
